IEW Paper Grading

This service is designed for students learning from the Institute for Excellence in Writing (IEW) videos who would like expert assistance in editing or grading their work.

Supporting Your Homeschooling Journey

We know the challenges parents face when grading their children’s IEW assignments, particularly when English isn’t their first language, when writing isn’t a natural skill set, or when life simply gets busy. That’s why our IEW-accredited instructors stand ready to help with all your grading needs!

Our service is designed not only to lighten parents’ administrative load of grading homework but also to foster students’ growth. Many students make significant progress not just by writing their drafts, but by receiving feedback and revising their drafts to improve them. By engaging with our unbiased editors, students gain valuable insights into how their writing is perceived by an external reader. This collaboration fosters a constructive dialogue with expert instructors, deepening their understanding of effective communication. Writing is an iterative process, and our grading service ensures your child gets the most out of each revision.

Please note that while our graders will often provide a brief explanation of a mistake or direct the writer to review a IEW resource, this offering does not include a formal lesson on IEW writing concepts. If a student would like such instruction, they can schedule a time to review their draft and the feedback they received in 20-minute increments, charged at a discounted private tutoring rate.

Our Feedback Process

We create a dedicated Google Classroom for each student who signs up for grading services. This classroom features a list of every assignment in the student’s chosen curricula, so they can navigate to their current lesson and upload their KWO and draft for grading there.

  • Typed drafts

    • Typed drafts should be in a Google doc, double-spaced.

    • We will return a Google doc with comments, a final score per the composition checklist, and a short video of your grader walking your child through key points.

  • Handwritten drafts

    • Handwritten drafts should be clearly scanned PDFs or high-resolution JPGs.

    • We will return an annotated draft with handwritten comments, a final score per the composition checklist, and a short video of your grader walking your child through key points.
