We are seeking one additional part-time writing instructor who can prepare for teaching with us during fall 2026 and be ready to begin working with students in January 2027.
About the Role: Our instructors teach live, online writing lessons to students in grades 3–12, working with both individual students and small groups. Rose Writing Center provides the curriculum, lesson plans, and homework assignments so instructors can focus their time on preparing for lessons, teaching, and giving students meaningful feedback on their writing. RWC also handles student recruitment, scheduling, and billing.
Compensation & Schedule: This is a fully remote, part-time independent contractor role paying $45–$65 USD per teaching hour, depending on experience, with additional compensation for grading and parent-teacher conferences. Instructors may build toward approximately 5–10 teaching hours per week over time. We are currently especially interested in candidates with Tuesday afternoon ET and/or Saturday availability, though strong applicants with other availability are also encouraged to apply, particularly if they are comfortable building their teaching schedule more gradually.
What We’re Looking For: We’re looking for instructors who genuinely love teaching writing and working with students, possess an excellent command of written and spoken English, and communicate warmly and professionally with both students and families. Successful candidates are dependable, organized, and comfortable working independently while contributing to a small, collaborative teaching team. Applicants should either already hold accreditation through the Institute for Excellence in Writing (IEW) or be willing to complete IEW accreditation independently before teaching our curriculum. Ideally, we’re looking for someone interested in growing with Rose Writing Center and becoming a long-term member of our team.
If this sounds like a good fit, we’d love to learn more about you. Please complete the application below.
