The Fox and the Crow
By Kristin, Age 8
One morning in the forest, there was a crow perched in an oak tree. The crow, who had beautiful, black, shiny feathers, loved cheese and she found some at a picnic site. She was happily holding it in her beak. There was also a sly fox hiding behind a bush. He was hungry. The mischievous mammal looked up and saw the crow.
The fox, who was starving, was craving cheese and he wanted the beautiful crow’s morsel. He sneakily decided to trick the crow. He had an idea to say nice things to the crow to distract her. The fox said, “You have beautiful feathers and a lovely voice.” The crow was pleased but she stayed quiet.
The fox begged crow to sing a few notes. The crow opened her beak and cawed loudly. The crow dropped her cheese and it landed in the fox’s mouth which was wide open and waiting. The fox chewed up the smelly cheese and laughed. “Don’t believe everything you hear,” proposed the fox as he trotted into the woods.
