Pentre Ifan

By Evelyn S., Age 9

Pentre Ifan is an unusual monument. It is made of seven stones, which stand on the lush green hills in the Welsh countryside. Pentre Ifan means “Ivan’s Village" and it was built five-thousand years ago as a dolmen. Out of the seven stones, there is one huge flat stone held eight feet above the ground by three other giant stones. Surprisingly, there is no evidence of burials inside the tomb. Some people are convinced that an ancient civilization had far-advanced technology that we don’t understand. Others have stated that giants rearranged stones because the Bible and the other ancient writings depict giants on the earth long ago. Pentre Ifan is a monument that will make you curious the moment you see it since it is very odd.
